O God, power over all creation and giver of life, how grateful we are to be alive on this day; to take a breath and feel a heartbeat. To embrace a friend and walk in the sunlight. To see children grow and delight in the beauty of nature. We give thinks for the sweetness of life. Today, too, we remember. Violence and smoke, fire and pain, loss and sudden vulnerability. We remember our fear, and our anger is renewed. How can we love? How can we hope? Forgive us, O Lord, our humanity. Help us, O God, repair our suffering. Your truth is always the victor, and your peace our destiny. Guide us, we pray, and give us strength. Enfold us in your eternal grace. We ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
