God of might and God of glory, we stand at the beginning of a new year, renewed by your love and filled with your promise and hope. We give thanks for our place in this community, and the guidance of the Spirit as we move forward in faith. Help us when we are impatient, or when we drag our feet. Heal us when we disagree. Forgive us when we forget that you are our reason for being. Lead us into living as your light and love in the world in Christ’s name. Amen.

Hear the good news! Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for us. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone; a new life has begun. Know that you are forgiven, and be at peace. Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

God, source of all light, by your Word you give light to the soul. Pour out upon us the spirit of wisdom and understanding, that, through the Scriptures, our hearts and minds may be opened to know your will in our lives. Amen.

We believe we are here in Palm Springs to “proclaim the Good News of God by reaching out to others and inviting them into a new relationship with Jesus Christ. We commit ourselves, therefore, to be the center for spiritual growth and friendship, where the teachings of Jesus Christ are faithfully received and God’s grace is celebrated joyfully with Christian friends.” This we affirm in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
