Lord over all, we give thanks for this new year, this new beginning. All creation stirs as your name becomes known; the heavens sing the song of ‘God-with-us’, and your people join with thankful praise. Remind us, we pray, to look towards you and not be caught up in the cruelty and selfishness that destroys the human spirit. Help us to claim the goodness of our nature, and to be healers and helpers in the world. We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen. |
