* Call to Worship One: Jesus invites us to rest in God’s love. Many: We will heed Christ’s call to rest. One: Jesus calls us to rest in God’s grace. All: We will heed Christ’s call to rest.

* Opening Hymn What a Friend We Have in Jesus  Hymn #465 (all)

Prayer of Adoration & Confession (unison)
Lord of heaven and earth, have mercy upon us. Even when we know and want to do what is good, we often fail to do it; Warring impulses and desires keep us from living as you command. Forgive us, gracious God. Enable us to cast our burdens upon you and find rest. Teach us to walk beneath your yoke, following your direction, close by your side.

(A moment for silent reflection)

Assurance of Pardon
Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for us, was risen for us, and reigns in power over us. Sisters and brothers hear this good news. Through Christ we are forgiven and reconciled with the Creator of all.

* Singing Gloria Patri  Hymn #623

Amazing Grace  Hymn #649 (all)

Choral Preparation Hear Our Prayer, O Lord  On Screen

Prayers of the People & Lord's Prayer
Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Lord, open our hearts and minds by the power of your Holy Spirit, that as the Scriptures are read and your Word is proclaimed, we may hear with joy what you say to us today. Amen
