Who are we, Lord, that you are always there? Wherever we go, you are near, and whenever we speak, you hear us. Because of your love we are never, ever, alone. With you we are always beloved children, flowers in a holy garden tended with care. Your desire for us is joy. You have given everything, that we might have life and forgiveness, and we are thankful beyond words. Loving God, there are times that we are afraid and don't feel your presence, or are lonely and can’t hear your voice. When we suffer loss, we may feel you’ve forgotten us, and our prayers fall silent. Forgive us! Hear our prayer for forgiveness! Who are we to doubt you, to cast aside our trust? Give us the strength to persevere, to seek, and to ask. Give us the power to heal our frightened souls, for we are yours always. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for us, was risen for us, and reigns in power over us. Sisters and brothers hear this good news. Through Christ we are forgiven and reconciled with the Creator of all.

Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Lord, open our hearts and minds by the power of your Holy Spirit, that as the Scriptures are read and your Word is proclaimed, we may hear with joy what you say to us today. Amen

The Lord looks down from heaven
    on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand,
    any who seek God.

All have turned away, all have become corrupt;
    there is no one who does good,
    not even one.

Do all these evildoers know nothing?
They devour my people as though eating bread;
    they never call on the Lord.

    for God is present in the company of the righteous.

You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor,
    but the Lord is their refuge.

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
    When the Lord restores his people,
    let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
